The victim was identified as Honey Joan Chua, resident of Brgy Poblacion East, while the driver of the pick-up was identified as Mark Anthony Flores, 36, an engineer by profession, and resident of Brgy Udiao, Rosario, La Union.

The accident happened at around 11:45 p.m.

Both vehicles incurred damages on the front portion with still undetermined damages.

The motorcycle driver sustained injuries in different parts of her body and was rushed to Region 1 Medical Center Dagupan City but was declared dead on arrival.

A witness told the Manila Bulletin that the motorcycle was so fast, it even managed to overtake one car before it collided with the pick-up truck.

“Kasi sobrang bilis daw po niya talaga (motorcycle driver), nakita ng mga kabataan na nag overtake pa sa isa pang sasakyan bago makabanggan ang pick-up” a witness told MB.

The driver of the pick-up was on his way home when the incident happened.

The driver of the pickup was also examined in the same hospital before he was brought to Calasiao Police station for proper disposition.

Motorists here were reminded to always wear a helmet.

“Helmet reduces risk of a serious brain injury and death because during a fall or collision, most of the impact energy is absorbed by the helmet, rather than your head and brain,” the authorities said. “Wear the right helmet.”
