Zambo LGU turns over one vehicle each to 98 barangays, security sectors on Independence Day


ZAMBOANGA CITY – More than a hundred vehicles were given away to barangays and security sectors here during the celebration of the 124th Philippine Independence Day on Sunday, June 12.

No less than city mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar led the turnover of utility vans to the city’s 98 barangays that got one unit each.

Three units of 4X2 pick up vehicles were also given to the Zamboanga City Police Office, Task Force Zamboanga and to the Philippine Coast Guard Zamboanga Station during the simple ceremony highlighting the celebration of the Independence Day.

The mayor said that the distribution of the vehicles was in line with her security, health and education advocacy.

“Our commitment to the security sector is unending, as our forces continue to do their best to protect our city and its people from all forms of lawlessness,” said Climaco.

During the Independence Day ceremony, the mayor recognized the efforts of law enforcement units, volunteer groups, frontliners and force multipliers in keeping the city safe and secure.

The mayor also lauded Zamboangueño athletes who brought honor to the country during the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam and other national competitions.
