DPWH: Widening of Casolming Bridge on Pangasinan-Zambales Road under way

ALAMINOS CITY, Pangasinan – Good news for travelers and local tourists as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced the widening of a bridge on the Pangasinan-Zambales Road that leads to the picturesque Hundred Islands here.

Esperanza C. Tinaza, DPWH Region 1 (Ilocos) Public Information Officer, said that the widening of the 46.2-meter Casolming Bridge on the Pangasinan-Zambales Road here is under way. The project will accommodate more vehicles and ease rush hour traffic here.

The DPWH Pangasinan First District Engineering Office headed by District Engineer Marieta B. Mendoza implemented the bridge widening project to increase its capacity by adding lanes on each side. It will also facilitate safer access for big trucks and buses, thus improving delivery of agricultural products to nearby cities and towns.

The P49-million project funded by the General Appropriations Act of 2021 includes bored piling, girder cast-in-place, stone masonry, and Prestressed Concrete Cylinder Pipe (PCCP).

The Pangasinan-Zambales Road is a major road leading to the northern and western part of Pangasinan. Alaminos City is known as the home of the Hundred Islands which attracts lots of tourists and visitors.
