Making healthy lifestyle choices

Having lived for more than 2 years under strict and constantly changing lockdowns and restrictions because of the Covid-19 virus has caused major changes in our lifestyle. While some have maintained a healthy way of living; for others, the isolation and lockdowns have caused a disruption in one's daily routine. And the end result? Significant changes in lifestyle especially when it comes to physical activity, diet and sleep.

I would have to admit, because of the changes in my daily routine and aggravated by limitations of social and physical contact with other people, I had unconsciously made unhealthy choices and eventually developed detrimental lifestyle habits during the pandemic. If it weren't for the Oppo Watch Free, I wouldn't have realized I was living such an unhealthy lifestyle.

The Oppo Watch Free

Pre-pandemic I was living a very active life. Although I was juggling my time between work and family, I still get to squeeze in a bit of "me" time. Needless to say, I had a tight schedule; but I had no complaints. I know that as long as I keep myself physically active paired with proper diet, I would keep myself fit and healthy. But then the pandemic started and most activities came to a halt.

Suddenly, I wasn't walking much. Long walks with my dogs to the nearby park were no longer allowed. Visits to the gym and salons were not permitted. Trips to the market and grocery stores became more of a struggle. In short, what was once an active lifestyle was converted to a sedentary one. Eventually, my diet and sleep changed. I did not actually notice my decline in quality and time of sleep, poor diet and decline in water intake until I got the Oppo Watch Free.

Oppo Watch Free

The Oppo Watch Free is a budget-friendly smartwatch. Its use is specifically aimed for health and fitness; basically what everyone needs during these uncertain times.

The watch is pretty sturdy and has a solid build. The strap is comfortable, brawny yet soft, breathable and flexible when worn. It is lightweight. At a weight of 33g, it gives a "barely there-feel" when worn at play or even when worn during sleep. It has a 1.64-inch AMOLED display that is curved and scratch-resistant. I like that the screen has an ambient light sensor so it adjusts automatically especially when I play badminton indoors then go out of the court to breath in fresh air in between sets. Noticeable too are the absence of obtrusive buttons as it is purely swipe and tap gestures. I also like its various selection of watch faces as I can easily make it look entirely different depending on my mood or outfit.

Now allow me to dwell on the features the Oppo Watch Free has that worked well for my lifestyle.

1. The O Sleep feature

Having used the Oppo Watch Free for about a week was bittersweet. Imagine finding out that you weren't actually sleeping well for years! That explains why I'd felt moody and tired during the day. I wasn't aware I was developing the classic signs of sleep deprivation! And the Oppo Watch Free clearly pointed that out to me.

I've always wondered what happens while I am asleep. Well, the Oppo Watch Free does! This smartwatch has sleep tracking capabilities that are fairly accurate and detailed. Its sleep sensor detects the moment I doze off as well as when I wake up. As a smartwatch/sleep tracking device, it gave me a comprehensive report of what happened before, during and after my sleep. It not only reported my total time of sleep; but it also reported the quality of sleep (during light, deep sleep, and occasional wakefulness) that I had. It even included REM sleep cycle and my snoring habits.

The O sleep feature took care of me while I was asleep. It reminded and alerted me that it is already bedtime and that it is time to put the phone down. Synced to my phone, once I dozed off, it automatically muted my phone's notifications.

2. Drink water feature

Even before the pandemic, I already had problems with water intake. No excuses. I just forget and that is why I found this feature so beneficial for me. With this feature, I can set a goal of how much water I would need to consume during the day. In addition, I can set the time when I want to be reminded of it. It made me develop the habit to bring water with me wherever I go so I wouldn't miss it. We do very well know how important drinking water is especially with our kind of weather and so the Oppo Watch Free is a helpful device that frequently reminds me to hydrate.

3. Fitness feature

Oppo Watch Free

Of course, a smartwatch won't be complete if it does not have a fitness tracker. This smartwatch functions way more that just tracking the number of steps I do in a day. The Oppo Watch Free has 100+ pre-installed workout modes so there is actually no excuse not to track whatever sport I am in. At present, I am in to badminton and I found the OPPO Watch Free really helpful. At play, it monitors not only my total time of play but it also monitors my heart rate and blood oxygen saturation level or the amount of oxygen in my blood - one thing that Covid taught us to keep track of.

4. Long battery life

I was once getting ready to leave for my badminton session and realized the Oppo Watch Free only had 5% battery life. Not wanting to be late for my session I decided to charge it for 5 minutes. To my delight, the OPPO Watch Free did its function all throughout my 3-hour badminton session. It even lasted throughout the day. With regular use, surprisingly without skimping on its features, this smartwatch can last 14 days.

The Oppo Enco Air2

They say listening to music brings many health benefits. It can lighten one's mood, can be energizing and would make us want to move. And when it comes to exercise, it can improve physical performance. Music can help our bodies exercise more efficiently and can truly enhance one's workout. I must say, part of my journey towards a healthy lifestyle wouldn't be complete without the use of the Oppo Enco Air2 earbuds and I've used this concurrently with the Oppo Watch Free.

Oppo Watch Free and Oppo Enco Air2

The Oppo Enco Air2 is the newest affordable true wireless earbuds that can satisfy one's audio needs. This true wireless earphones are fairly straightforward. It is simple, fuss free, no frills; just good music. Each Enco Air2 bud weighs only 3.5g making it really lightweight. It is also ergonomically designed that it fits snugly yet comfortably on one's ear. I do circuit training at home and as sweaty as I become it doesn't fall off my ear. Not even when I do my daily runs on the treadmill.

Speaking of being on the treadmill. At home, I do enjoy my daily run. Considered one of my "me" time, while using the Enco Air2 buds I am most often transported to a different environment as I immerse myself in good, detailed, clear and richer vocals from my favorite singers. Taking calls while in the middle of a workout is no bother at all even when there are noisy kids around as the buds are equipped with AI noise cancelling feature that can masterfully pick up vocals and filter out ambient noise. Working up a sweat poses no problem too as the earbuds are IPX4 water-resistant.

Convenience of use is a priority for me. I don't want to spend time connecting and reconnecting to different devices. Good thing the Oppo Enco Air2 buds is equipped with the flash connect feature. It automatically connects to my mobile phone as soon as I open the case. Incidentally, the Oppo Enco Air2 buds comes with a matte-finish, round-shaped case with a translucent lid. The translucent lid is pretty useful. It ensures me that both buds are inside the case minimizing the tendency to misplace them. In addition, the case can charge the earbuds multiple times giving the buds 24 hours of music playback.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can be a bit of a struggle. Old habits are most often hard to change; but with the help of some devices, we can actually make it work. My month long experience using the Oppo Watch Free and the Oppo Enco Air2 buds helped me to be conscious of my health, develop new and healthier habits and actually maintain them - generally, what these two devices are actually made for.
