South Korean personality Song Hae, the world’s oldest TV music talent show host, passed away on June 8. He was 95.
Song Hae had hosted the Korean TV show “National Singing Contest” on the channel KBS 1TV for 34 years from 1988 to 2022.

Last April 12, the Guinness World Records officially recognized Song Hae as the world’s “oldest TV music talent show host” at age 94.
“Song Hae has been the host of the Korean TV music talent show National Singing Contest since 1988,” according to Guinness World Records.
According to Korean media, Song Hae passed away in the morning of June 8 at his home in Dogok-dong, Gangnam in Seoul.
He was hospitalized last January and May due to health problems. He recently considered leaving his hosting job at the “National Singing Contest” for health reasons.
Song Hae was born on April 27, 1927 in Hwanghae Province, which is now part of North Korea.
In 2014, he received Korea’s Eungwan Order of Cultural Merit. Last year, he was the subject of the documentary film “Songhae 1927.”
