
The fire that reached the third alarm totally razed five houses and partially burned 15 others.
Initial reports disclosed that the fire allegedly started from the residence of one Rowena Agbon at 3:10 p.m. The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Catbalogan has not yet ascertained the cause of the fire.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, together with the Bureau of Fire Protection and the Catbalogan Filipino-Chinese Fire Volunteer Brigade, immediately responded to the fire. The neighboring fire stations of Jiabong and Motiong also responded to the fire.
Nobody was reported injured or killed in the fire that was put out at 4:12 p.m. but most of the affected families and households were not able to save their belongings. Damage to property in the fire was estimated at P800,000.
