Through the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the Philippines issued the statement on Tuesday, May 31, almost a week after North Korea launched a ballistic missile.

"The Philippines condemns the latest missile test by the DPRK (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) on 25 May 2022, which undermines peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula, the entire region, and the world," the DFA said.

It also reiterated its call to North Korea to comply with its obligations under security council resolutions of the United Nations and commit to peaceful dialogues.

"We reiterate our call on the DPRK to comply with its international obligations under relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and commit to the process of constructive and peaceful dialogue," the DFA said.

North Korea launched three missile tests on Wednesday morning, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said. The missile tests happened after US President Joe Biden capped his Asia trip.

In April this year, the Philippines also condemned North Korea's “reckless and provocative” intercontinental ballistic missile test that took place on March 24, 2022.
