MB Daily News Update: Senate presidency in the bag for Zubiri


It’s all over but the shouting.

Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri will be the Senate President in the 19th Congress, which opens June 30, 2022.

This, after Zubiri’s reported rival for the country’s third top post Senator Cynthia Villar backed out, and said that she would support a Zubiri leadership in the Senate.

President Duterte said he was keen on returning to his life as a professor in criminal law after he steps down from office.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has filed charges against four officers of M/V Happy Hiro, which rammed a Philippine fishing boat, with 21 crewmen onboard, in the waters off Palawan last week. Eight are reportedly still missing among the crew.
