Batangas police arrest almost 300 persons in 9-day anti-crime drive

Police have arrested a total of 298 individuals during the nine-day intensified anti-criminality campaign in the province of Batangas.

Police Col. Glicerio Cansilao, director of the Batangas Police Provincial Office, said the intensified operations started on May 18, among the targets are wanted persons and those with arrest warrants.

Of the 298 persons arrested, Cansilao said 97 of them are wanted persons, including those in the top wanted list of municipal and city police stations in Batangas.

“Seven of those arrested were included in the wanted list of the regional level while 14 are included in the wanted list at the provincial level,” said Cansilao.

He said that 115 of those arrested have connections with illegal drugs operations while more than 80 people were collared for illegal gambling.

Seized during the operations were almost 62 grams of shabu, 21 grams of marijunana with estimated street value of almost P500,000.

Also seized were two handguns.
