A 17-year-old upcoming singer who went viral with her campaign jingle for presidential aspirant Manila Mayor Isko Moreno will go full blast in music with the launch of her debut album later this year.

During an interview in Quezon City recently, Sofi Fermazi said she will be featured on an album from Star Records where she will sing three songs, along with rising musicians. She was initially featured in the Original Soundtrack of the youth-oriented flick "Caught in The Act."

"I am so grateful especially to Direk Perry Escano for giving me this opportunity and to Star Records for allowing me this chance to become one of their mainstream artists," said Sofi, who has also done cover songs uploaded on YouTube.

It was Direk Perry who discovered Sofi. He describes the teen singer as talented, smart, and a good singer. "I met Sofi when she sang during the advanced workshop. I must say that Sofi can compete internationally."

Direk Perry revealed that Sofi will be launched in a mini-concert, adding that she will soon appear in the fund-raising event for the Philippine Movie Press Club.

Sought to give advice to Sofi, Drek Perry said: "Mahalin niya ang trabaho niya at makisama sa mga tao sa industriya. Pag-igihan rin niya ang trabaho niya and dapat tuloy-tuloy lang ang learning process."

Sofi named Sarah Geronimo and Regine Velasquez-Alcasid as her local musical influences. She also listens to the music of Taylor Swift and Avril Lavigne.

She loves to explore pop, ballad, and R&B genres. But believe it or not, Sofi has been composing songs since she was 10.

"I still don't know if some of the songs I composed will be included on the album. It is still being discussed," Sofi also said.

Sofi said she would like to join showbiz in the future. However, Direk Perry said that Sofi will focus first on music.

When asked about her celebrity crushes, Sofi mentioned Donny Pangilinan and Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun. "Donny's good at acting and kind. His fans are supportive of him. Wala siyang bad image."
