The #MarcosCabinet: Anton Lagdameo Jr, Special Assistant to the President


Former Davao del Norte 2nd district representative Antonio "Anton" Lagdameo Jr. has been chosen by President-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. to serve as the Special Assistant to the President (SAP).

Lagdameo, 54, has tenured three terms representing Davao del Norte's 2nd legislative district; in the 14th (2007 to 2010), the 15th (2010-2013), and the 16th (2013-2016) Congresses.

He is the grandson of Antonio Floirendo Sr., a businessman dubbed "Banana King"; he was an ally of Marcos’s late father, the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

In 1989, Lagdameo graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

The ex-solon then earned a Master's degree in Business Economics from the University of Asia and the Pacific in 1998.

Prior to entering Philippine politics, he worked as a credit analyst for two banks in New York: the Manufacturers Hanover Trust and the National Westminster Bank.

The SAP Cabinet post, which was popularized by former SAP turned Senator Bong Go under incumbent President Rodrigo Duterte, serves as an aide to the president and supervises the Presidential Management Staff.
