The Bulldogs bucked their slow start and overcame and lopsided first set before finding their tempo in the next frame.

Their second set win forced a decider as the Buytrago-Salvador tandem stepped on the gas and unleashed a 5-0 run for a 10-8 lead.

After figuring in an 11-all deadlock, NU scored three straight points capped by a block on Dimaculangan to reach match point.

Dimaculangan tried to put the game within striking distance after a solid kill but Salvador put the finishing touches with a spike of his own.

Earlier, NU, which had a 1-1 record, absorbed a 21-12, 15-21, 11-15 loss at the hands of De La Salle’s Noel Kampton and Vince Maglinao.
