A 33 year-old man who tried to abduct a Grade 10 student was arrested by members of the Las Piñas police Special Operations Unit and Women and Children Protection Desk in a follow-up operation on Wednesday, May 25.
According to Col. Jaime Santos, city police chief, the suspect identified as Leonard Alfaro is now detained at the Las Piñas police custodial facility and has been charged with violation of Republic Act 10591(Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) in relation to the Omnibus Election Code and illegal possession of an explosive (hand grenade).
Santos said the victim is a 15-year-old girl who, with the help of her father, sought assistance from the police after two men on board a vehicle tried to abduct her at about 9 p.m. in front of a pawnshop along Marcos Alvarez Avenue in Barangay Talon Singko.
The victim told the police that suspects grabbed her and told her to board their car saying, “pumasok ka sa loob kundi babarilin kita (get inside or I will shoot you).”
The police said the victim managed to escape from her supposed abductors when a motorcycle rider approached them. The suspects immediately boarded their vehicle and sped towards the direction of Moonwalk, Las Piñas.
Alfaro was collared by the police during a follow-up operation and authorities recovered in his possession a hand grenade and one Magnum 357 revolver.
