MB Daily News Update: Proclamation nears for BBM, Sara

As expected, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is well on his way to being proclaimed as the 17th President of the Republic of the Philippines, with running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte also awaiting the mere formalities of being installed as Vice President.

This, as the counting of votes by the National Board of Canvassers (NBC) churned on well into the night on May 24, 2022, with the Marcos camp expecting that BBM and Duterte could be proclaimed as early as Wednesday, May 25, 2022.

It could very well be the fastest, hitch-free canvassing of presidential and vice presidential votes, owing much to the decisive leads that Marcos and Duterte posted over their closest rivals in the May 9 polls, and the gracious decision of the camps of Vice President Leni Robredo and Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso to stay clear of the canvassing process.

These are principally the main stories to watch out for this Wednesday morning, May 25, 2022.

TOUGH GRIND – Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri (left) gets upset after election officers from three provinces, namely Surigao del Sur, Pampanga, and Sultan Kudarat, failed to include the Certificates of Canvass (COCs) for President and Vice President in the sealed ballot boxes that are being tallied at the Batasan Pambansa on Tuesday evening, May 24, 2022.
