MB Daily News Update: Marcos, Duterte given historic majority mandates by Filipinos


They both garnered a historic majority mandate from the Filipino people. They are the first president and vice-president, in recent memory, to come from the same ticket.

With these new dynamics, President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte will be bringing a new standard of leadership to the country after they were proclaimed on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, as winners in their respective posts in the May 9 polls.

Another member of the Marcos Cabinet was named in Atty. Trixie Cruz Angeles, who will be heading the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), and will be widely regarded as the “Press Secretary”.

Meanwhile, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) bared that the winners in the party-list race will be announced on Thursday, May 27, 2022.
