Ridge of high pressure area to bring hot, humid weather across PH

Hot and humid weather will prevail across most parts of the country due to the ridge of high pressure area extending across the eastern parts of Southern Luzon and Visayas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4 p.m weather bulletin Tuesday, May 24.

MANILA BULLETIN

The ridge of the high pressure area, an anti-cyclone weather system, is pushing warm air from the Pacific Ocean towards the country.

PAGASA advised the public to avoid sun exposure from 9 a.m to 3 p.m., bring an umbrella, and increase the intake of fluids to avoid dehydration.

Humid weather is expected to persist until Saturday in all parts of the country with localized rain showers and thunderstorms in the latter part of the day.

However, PAGASA warned of possible flash floods and landslides that may occur in some areas.

The western section of Luzon and extreme Northern Luzon will experience moderate winds and coastal waters on Wednesday, May 25.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.

PAGASA is not expecting a tropical cyclone development inside the Philippine area of responsibility within the next three to five days. (Luisa Cabato)
