Malacañang on Tuesday welcomed the camp of Vice President Leni Robredo’s acknowledgement of the 2022 elections’ outcome when it no longer raised objection to all certificates of canvass in the Congress, which convened to start the official counting of votes.
Communications Secretary Martin Andanar in a statement Tuesday said the move of Robredo’s camp “to expedite the canvassing of votes for President is a positive development.”
“As we earlier articulated, let us respect the outcome of the election and give chance to the winning candidates to fulfill their campaign platform,” Andanar said.
On Tuesday, Romulo Macalintal, Robredo’s poll counsel, said they will be waiving their appearance before the joint session of Congress that is canvassing the votes for president and vice president.
Macalintal also cited Robredo’s pronouncements to just accept that “our dreams are not aligned with the outcome of the elections.”
