KMU on early Monday morning held a protest in front of the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City as they called for the immediate passage of House Bill 246, also known as the National Minimum Wage Bill in order to help Filipinos amid continuous rise of commodity prices.

(Our only desire is to conduct a peaceful protest before the Congress to call for the immediate passage of the P750 national minimum wage. To our surprise, a group of policemen approached us and blocked the road. Where is the right to free press and peaceful demonstrations?),” said the labor group.

The statement came after their protest where they were met by members of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).

Meanwhile, apart from the passage of the National Minimum Wage Bill, KMU is also pushing for the removal of excise tax on major oil products.
