Cavite 7th district Rep. Boying Remulla has told reporters covering the House of Representatives that he has accepted an offer from the incoming Marcos administration to head the Department of Justice (DOJ).
"I really work hard, I qm devoted to my duties. Kaya (That's why), it doesn't take much naman when you're told by the president. It's understood already," Remulla said Monday, May 23.
"We have specific things, we will talk about it later when there's time to talk about it kasi marami talagang problema yung ating justice system na dapat itama natin (because our justice system is really riddled with problems that we must correct)," the recently reelected congressman added.
This makes Remulla, a former Cavite governor, the fourth confirmed piece of presumptive president Bongbong Marcos's Cabinet.
Earlier this month, presumptive vice president Sara Duterte and former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Benhur Abalos accepted nominations to be the secretaries of the Department of Education (DepEd) and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), respectively.
Over the weekend, lawyer Vic Rodriguez accepted the offer to be Marcos's executive secretary. This means that he has to vacate his erstwhile post as his spokesperson.
The previous weekend, a source told the Manila Bulletin that Remulla had the inside track on becoming DOJ secretary--a post that many political observers thought would be given to SAGIP Party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta.
Marcoleta backed down from the Senate race under Marcos's UniTeam ticket at the very last minute before the May 9 polls.
Remulla said that either a caretaker solon would be appointed for his district, or a special elections would be held to name his replacement.
