Broadcast journalist and senator-elect Raffy Tulfo has requested President Duterte to proclaim the internment of Queen of Philippine Movies Susan Roces as "National Day of Mourning."
Meanwhile, ACT-CIS party-list Representative Jocelyn Tulfo, wife of Raffy, said that she will suggest the nomination of the 80-year-old star for posthumous National Artist.
The national artist award order is bestowed by the Philippines on Filipinos who have made significant contributions to the development of Philippine art.
Susan, the wife of the late Fernando "Da King" Poe Jr., has been in the entertainment industry for almost seven decades and has received accolades.
Raffy's full statement:
"Jocelyn, Ralph, my entire family, and I express to Senator Grace Poe our sincerest condolences on the passing of her mother, Susan Roces, beloved by all Filipinos.
“Few celebrity icons are as loved as Ms. Susan Roces. Hindi mawawaglit sa alaala naming mga taga-hanga niya ang kanyang di mabilang na mga pelikula, programang pang-telebisyon, at patalastas.
“We ask President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to declare a national day of mourning on the day of her burial.
“Rep. Jocelyn Tulfo will file a House Resolution next week extolling Ms. Susan Roces' legacy and recommending her nomination for posthumous National Artist honors. Again, our sympathies to all who loved and adored Ms. Susan Roces."
