MB Daily News Update: ‘I feel wonderful tonight’ – Padilla

Actor Robin Padilla heralded that his win as top Senate candidate was a reflection of the desire of Muslim and Christians in the Philippines to unite. And for this, the man they used to call the Bad Boy of Philippines movies declared: “I feel wonderful tonight”, borrowing the closing line from a classic Eric Clapton song.

And so it came to pass that the country’s latest batch of senators were proclaimed on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, with estranged half-brothers Jinggoy Estrada and JV Estrada, sons of former president Joseph Estrada, hugging and raising their arms at centerstage, and former public works and highways secretary Mark Villar trumpeting that “Build, Build, Build” is the way to go to achieve unity and progress.

Completing Batch 2022 of the Senate were returning senators Loren Legarda, Alan Peter Cayetano, and Francis Escudero, as well a re-electionists Sherwin Gatchalian, Jonas Villanueva, Risa Hontiveros, and Juan Miguel Zubiri, and neophyte Raffy Tulfo.

The Social Weather Stations (SWS) disclosed that almost half of Filipino households – or about 43 percent – still considered themselves poor in the first quarter of this year.

These are among the top stories this Thursday morning, May 19, 2022.
