Spearheaded by Marck Espejo and John Vic De Guzman, the Filipino spikers hardly broke as sweat as they went on attacking spree to post their first victory in the biennial meet.

They led by as many as 10 in the opening set behind the efforts of Espejo and De Guzman, 19-9, and continued that pace in the next two frames.

A service ace from Rex Intal and a back row attack from Jao Umandal sealed the victory for the Filipinos, whose losses to Cambodia and Thailand sent them out of medal contention.
