CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga — Police Regional Office 3 Director Brigadier General Matthew P Baccay has ordered all commanders to continuously take action against illegal gambling operations.

B/Gen. Baccay said the Philippine National Police is serious in its anti-illegal gambling campaign and that the one-strike policy on police officials, he said, is very much in effect.

The Region 3’s top cop cited that from January 1, 2022 to date, a total of 886 anti-illegal gambling operations were launched which resulted in the arrest of 3,878 individuals and confiscation of P1,354,967.00 cash bets.

“Gambling addiction like illegal drugs robs the rationality of a person both young and old as it affects both his potential and productivity,” said Baccay.

“It causes a threat to the community when an individual is forced to do something to sustain his/her gambling addiction,” he added.

He warned all PRO3 personnel that those found involved in any illegal gambling activities will be meted with appropriate administrative and criminal charges.

Meanwhile, PRO3‘s persistent campaign on anti-terrorism resulted in the voluntary surrender of two Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) members and withdrawal of support of 24 CPP-NPA sympathizers in Nueva Ecija on May 17 and 18.

On May 17, Nampicuan Municipal Police facilitated the voluntary surrender of ‘Ka Trixie,’ 60, member of Lupong Tagapamayapa ng Barangay, and a former member of CPP-NPA under Arcadio Peralta command in 1998.

Also, other units facilitated the voluntary surrender of ‘Kaka,’ 52, Militia ng Bayan member under Kilusang Larangang Gerilya- Sierra Madre or KLG Sierra Madre .

On May 18, there are 24 members of Liga ng Manggagawang Bukid (LMB) and Alyansang Magbubukid sa Gitnang Luzon(AMGL) under the Kilusan ng Magsasaka ng Pilipinas (KMP) who voluntarily surrendered to authorities.
