BACOLOD CITY – The City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) here arrested an alleged drug pusher and seized about 205 grams of suspected shabu worth P1,394,000 in a buy-bust operation at Purok Neptune, Barangay Singcang-Airport on Thursday, May 19.

CDEU head police Lt. Joven Mogato identified the suspect as Gerald Barillo, 25, of Barangay Singcang-Airport.

Mogato said it took them four days to monitor Barillo’s activity before launching the operation.

Mogato added that Barillo is a newly-identified individual but can be considered as a high value individual based on the huge volume of drugs recovered from him.

According to the police, Barillo told them that poverty allegedly pushed him to engage in the illegal drug trade. Mogato said the illegal drugs were believed to be sourced out outside the city.

Barillo is detained at Police Station 8.

A day prior to the operation, 18-year-old Kingsley Divinagracia of Barangay Singcang-Airport was also arrested after police confiscated from him about 20 grams of suspected shabu worth P136,000 in a buy-bust operation at the said village.

Maj. Joery Puerto, head of Police Station 8, said that Divinagracia is a street level individual, who is reportedly under the watchlist of the barangay.

Puerto said that Divinagracia allegedly engaged in the illegal drug trade since he was a minor due to the influence of his surroundings. He allegedly started as a “runner” of other drug peddlers in the area, Puerto added.
