The Office of the Vice President (OVP) on Wednesday, May 18, warned the public against a Twitter page masquerading as official Angat Buhay.
“Hindi po konektado sa Office of the Vice President o kay VP Leni Robredo ang Twitter account na (The Office of the Vice President or VP Leni Robredo are not connected to the Twitter account of) ‘Angat Buhay New Government’ o (or) @NewGovOrgABF,” Robredo’s office said in a Facebook post.
“Wala pong katotohanan ang mga lumalabas sa account na ito, na ang malinaw na layunin ay manlinlang at magpakalat ng maling impormasyon (There is no truth to the posts on this account, that the clear goal is to fool and spread false information),” the OVP added.
The Twitter page Angat Buhay New Government said on its description that it was created to “overthrow” the Marcos administration and introduce a “new government.”
Doctored pubmats quoted Robredo criticizing presumed president Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s supporters, and warning of another EDSA revolution to run after thieves and liars.
Robredo’s supporters called on their fellow 'kakampinks' to unfollow, block, and report the page.
The OVP said official information about Angat Buhay, the nongovernment organization (NGO) the Vice President plans to establish after her term ends on June 30, will be coursed through their official social media channels.
“Maging mapanuri at huwag basta maniniwala sa mga haka-haka, mga kwento o unverified information na nakikita online (Be discerning and don’t just believe hearsay, stories or unverified information you see online),” the Facebook post warned.
The fake Twitter page was up since January 2020, though it is believed to have changed its name shortly after Robredo’s announcement of her post-election plans during a thanksgiving rally last week.
Internet trolls were quick to criticize the Angat Buhay NGO, which they said was a way for Robredo to create a “new government” against Marcos, who won by 16 million votes based on partial and unofficial election results.

The Vice President is currently in New York to attend her youngest daughter Jillian’s graduation at the New York University (NYU) today, May 18.
