The workers then took shelter under the truck, and in a short while, lightning struck.

The truck driver and his helper, who was seated on the driver's seat, witnessed the incident and called for assistance. They were both unharmed, but eight others were.

Bago City police chief Lt. Col. Joem Malong said the eight workers who were harmed were confined at Bago City Hospital. One was in critical condition and was confined at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital while another was admitted at Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City.

The other victims were already discharged from the hospital, Malong added.
