Levanga made the announcement Wednesday, May 17 after Ramos completed his maiden Japanese campaign with the Toyama Grouses.

“I'm very excited to play for Hokkaido next season,” Ramos said in a statement released by Hokkaido on its website. “I was able to visit Hokkaido twice last season and I loved the city.

“I’m also looking forward to playing with very talented players in Hokkaido and hopefully making a run in the playoffs next season.”

Ramos averaged 10.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists with the Grouses, who posted a 24-35 record during the 2021-22 season.

Toyama earlier in the day said that Ramos will not be returning for the 2022-23 campaign.

“You guys made my first year in Japan so easy because of your support,” Ramos said on the Grouses site. “I will keep working hard and I look forward to seeing you guys again in the future!”

Hokkaido went 21-35, but is hoping that the addition of the Gilas Pilipinas mainstay will help boost its chances of making the playoffs next season.
