Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar said a total of 500 students were vaccinated against cervical cancer on Wednesday, May 18.
Aguilar said Grade 7 students from Las Piñas National High School aged 12 to 13 years old were given free Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine to protect them cervical cancer.
During the activity, the JCI Water Lilly, a non-profit organization, also distributed food packs to students who participated in the program at the school main campus from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The mayor said the free vaccination was conducted in celebration of the Cervical Cancer Awareness Month.
The program was done in coordination with the Department of Health (DOH) that provided the HPV vaccines, Las Piñas- Department of Education (DepEd), and the City Health Office (CHO).
Aguilar also said school nurses helped the CHO team in administering the HPV vaccine.
