P41.66-M flood control project in Nueva Vizcaya underway

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya -- The Department of Public Works and Highways-Nueva Vizcaya First District Engineering Office (DPWH-NVFDEO) jumpstarted the construction of Magat River Control, specifically the Paitan Section, in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.

According to DPWH 2, the 580-meter project connecting the existing flood control structure is done to protect the foundation of residential houses, rice fields, and other agricultural lands against the Magat River.

The project includes the construction of rubble concrete with embankment, gabions, mattresses and anchorage at both ends.

The P41.66-million flood control project started on February 18, 2022 and is expected to be completed in November this year.

The residents, especially farmers of Barangay Paitan, expressed their gratitude to the DPWH as this will provide protection for their properties, particularly lands and residential houses from flooding.

Flood control structures reduce the effects of flooding in towns, villages and other municipalities.

Ultimately, the flood management program of the department aims to protect the lives and properties against major floods.

As the rainy season has started earlier than expected, flood will be a concern anywhere, especially in low-lying areas.
