Various weather systems to bring rain showers over parts of PH on Monday

(MANILA BULLETIN)

Rain-inducing weather systems will continue to affect several parts of the country on Monday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its daily bulletin.

The frontal system will bring cloudy skies, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and Ilocos Norte.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may also prevail over Palawan, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Mindanao because of the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).

PAGASA warned against possible flash floods or landslides because of the occurrence of moderate to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will continue to experience hot and humid morning with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.

PAGASA advised the public to remain vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

The occurrence of thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening is becoming more frequent as the country’s climate begins its transition to southwest monsoon season, locally called “habagat.”

Severe thunderstorms are often associated with bursts of heavy rainfall, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.
