The Department of Health (DOH) has recorded 1,118 new Covid-19 cases from May 9 to 15, having an average daily rate of 160 which is 0.3 percent lower compared to the recorded cases from May 2 to 8.

Of the said cases, the DOH said 14 individuals were classified as severe and critical cases of Covid-19.

Meanwhile, the DOH said there are now over 68 million individuals vaccinated against Covid-19, which translates to 76.29 percent of the government’s target population.

So far, the health department said 13.6 million individuals have already received their booster shots.

The number of vaccinated senior citizens is now at 6.7 million, per the DOH.

The DOH said 16 Covid-positive individuals recently died, noting that 12 of them occurred in May and four in April.

In April, World Health Organization’s (WHO’s) representative to the Philippines, Dr. Rejendra Yadav, said local executives in areas with low vaccination rates must step up to vaccinate more people in their respective areas.
