Fil-American Miranda Renner gave the country its first medal in swimming Saturday night in the 31st Southeast Asian Games at the My Dinh Water Sports Palace in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Renner clocked 59.950 seconds to bag the bronze medal in the women’s 100-meter freestyle that saw Singapore’s Ting Wen Quah retaining the gold medal in 55.600sec.
Thailand’s Jenjira Srisa-ard took home the silver with 56.620sec.
Four other swimmers – Chloe Isleta, Jerard Jacinto, Jonathan Cook and Chloe Daos –qualified to the finals but failed to land a medal.
