Thus, said presumptive vice president, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte to her supporters following her impending victory in the 2022 national elections.

As of this posting, Duterte has garnered about 31.5 million votes based on partial and unofficial results. Her lead over the second placer exceeds 20 million votes.

“Tayo na po ang mauna na lumapit sa mga nakatunggali na supporters ng mga natalong kandidato (Let us be the ones to approach supporters of rival candidates who lost),” she said in a video message as part of her online thanksgiving event on Friday, May 13.

“Tayo ang (We are) ‘sana all’, tayo ang (we are) ‘Sara all’, we have to be magnanimous because we are only 31.5 million . Kailangan natin sila para tayo ay maging isang 100 percent na bansa (We need them so that the country can be 100 percent),” she continued.

She then reiterated the UniTeam’s rhetoric of “colorless politics".

“Noong kampanya, sinabi ko na pagkatapos ng eleksyon ay kailangan nating kalimutan ang mga kulay na naging palatandaan ng ating pulitika (During the campaign, I said that we should forget the colors that have become the face of our politics),” the lady mayor said.

“Ang mga kulay na ito ay naging mukha ng mainit na away ng mga supporters at dahil tapos na ang kampanya at eleksyon, panahon na para kalimutan ang mga kulay na pagkahiwalay-hiwalay (These colors have become the face of heated conflicts between supporters and now that the election is finished, it is time to forget the colors of separation),” she concluded.

Duterte and her partner, presumptive president Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., both garnered around 31 million votes in the 2022 polls.

Duterte and Marcos donned the colors green and red, respectively during the campaign period--colors that they still wear.
