MB Daily News Update: Abalos to head DILG

The transition to the new Marcos administration continued with former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Benhur Abalos being named to become the next Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) secretary.

Also part of that transition will be the transfer of the Office of the Vice President from incumbent VP Leni Robredo to incoming VP Sara Duterte. Robredo’s office said it was ready to turnover the OVP to her successor in a transition that would “smooth and as early as possible”.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has also explained why there was quick transmission of election results even when internet service in the country remains notoriously slow.

It also called out poll doubters, saying that it had been transparent from Day 1 of the election process.
