Illegal loggers in Nueva Vizcaya apprehended


BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya -- Five people involved in illegal logging were apprehended by joint intelligence operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) and Bayombong Philippine National Police in Nagragadian, Barangay La Torre North on Thursday.

The Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Police Office (NVPPO) said the police launched the operation after receiving an information from concerned citizens who told the authorities that there were ongoing illegal activities in a forest in Nagragadian, Barangay La Torre, North Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.

The operatives arrested the suspects whom they caught in the act of cutting trees using chainsaws without permit.

Major Nova Lyn Aggasid, NVPPO Information Officer, identified the suspects as Leonardo Navarette, 42; Noa Diyadi, 50; Reynaldo Chamona, 44; Marvin Culpa, 23; and Noel Diyadi, 23, all residents of Brgy. Bansing, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.

“Prior to their arrest, concerned citizens reported to the authorities the alleged illegal activities” police said.

Confiscated items such as chainsaw and other tools used for felling trees were brought to PNP for scaling while the suspects are now under the custody of PNP for investigation and proper disposition, according to Staff Sergeant Nicobesa , investigator-on-case.
