Comelec: 70% of COCs already canvassed Thursday


The Commission on Elections already canvassed 70 percent of the 173 total Certificates of Canvass (COCs) as of Thursday. May 12.

The Comelec en banc, sitting as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC), is currently canvassing the votes for senators and party-lists at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Forum Tent in Pasay City.

"We’re now on the day 4 of the national canvass for senators and PLs ,we are expected to canvass 173 COCs," Comelec Acting Spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said in a press briefing Friday, May 13.

"As of last night, when we suspended our proceedings on recess we have already canvassed 121 COCs and that accounts for 69, lets say 70 percent of the total number of COCs," he added.

On Friday, the NBOC is expected to canvass the COCs of Manila, Taguig Pateros, South Cotabato, Cebu, Zamboanga del Sur, Davao City and Basilan.

"If you would look at the board for the monitoring system of the NBOC, 100 percent transmission completely received for the Cordillera Administrative Region, NCR, regions 1, 2 , 3 4a, 4b, 5, 6,7 8, 9, 11, 12, and 13, all complete 100 percent transmission," said Laudiangco.

He said the remaining three items that are to be completed are the BARMM, Region 10 and the overseas absentee voting.

"We really hope that all these things will work out so that we could proclaim the soonest. So far, we are within our projected timelines," said Laudiangco.
