Andrea Torres shares new discoveries

Andrea Torres learned a lot doing another international project in "Pasional."

She shared her new discoveries during a recent interview.

According to Andrea, doing the movie allowed her to learn some Spanish.

Andrea actually fell in love with the language.

"Gusto ko siya ituloy pag-aralan. Na-in love ako sa language nila. Para kang kumakanta kapag sinasabi mo," she related.

Note that in the film, Andrea will be playing the role of Mahalia, a tango dancer.

Her co-star is Argentine hunk Marcelo Melingo, who she said is her "strict" mentor on Spanish.

She admitted that she was intimidated with Marcelo at first.

"Yung itsura niya kasi parang feeling mo masungit. Tapos respetado siyang actor dun, na di ako familiar kung anong ugali niya. Nung una ganun..."

She learned later that Marcelo was actually "very sweet."

He even prepared a gift for her.

"Makwento din siya. So ever since dirediretsyo na. May instant connection. Ang dali ng mga eksena. Habang dumadaan araw mas nagiging panatag ang loob ko."

Andrea also learned about the Milonga dance, which she described as having the basic elements of Argentine tango but different, more "intimate."

"Nag-train ako ng tango bago ako umalis pero I was surprise kasi pagdating ko du'n (sa Argentina), iba pala yung tango na nakakasanayan natin makita sa YouTube and yung tango na ginagawa nila dun, which is called Milonga, mas intimate siya. Kasi you have to follow your partner kung saan ka niya dadalhin. There's no choreography, really. Talagang you base it on the way kung saan siya (dance partner) pupunta kaya siya nagiging intimate. Nagpapakiramdaman kayong dalawa."

In terms of acting, Andrea related that she gave complete trust to director Francisco D’intino, who also wrote the story.

"Nagulat ako na magkaiba tayo ng way. Kasi tayo (Filipinos) parang laging heavy drama, malalaking eksena, malalaking movements, babad yung kilos. Sa kanila (Argentine) naman minimal lagi dapat yung reaksyon mo. Mas gusto nila yung pigil, mas gusto nila yung snappy ka kumilos, also mas gusto nila yung hindi ka lagi umiiyak - yung ganun."

So, Andrea just followed all the instructions given her.

And she's thankful as it gave her a chance to discover more of herself as an artist.

"Hopefully yung mga natutunan ko dati and dito (sa 'Pasional') mapagsama ko sila para ibang atake naman next time," she said.

The sexy star even teased how the first scenes she saw looked very "interesting."

"Sabi ko, may beauty din sa ganito, yung hindi mo masyado napapakita sa actions mo yung nararamdaman mo."

As to shooting some of her scenes in Argentina last year, Andrea noted, "They made sure na comfortable ako. Pinalano nila lahat."

Good thing the cast and crew loved the Philippines.

Note that the "Pasional" team visited Caramoan, Camarines Sur, and Coron, Palawan where they filmed more scenes.

Andrea feels that when everything is done, she will have "separation anxiety" as she now considers cast and crew family.

The movie is a co-production among movie and television studio Malevo Films, GMA Network, producer Ferdinand Dimadura, and associate producer Agustín Vargas Clerico.

Aside from Andrea, also those who attended the media conference were Marcelo, Francisco, Assistant Director Nicolas Cacciavillani, Producer Luciano Croatto, Director of Photography Gio Croatto, and producer Noel Maximo.
