James Hong made history as the oldest person to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, California recently.
Hong, 93, was known for his character in "Kung Fu Panda" as Mr. Ping who plays the father of Po (Jack Black).
His other voice-over characters were Chi Fu from "Mulan" and Mr. Gao in the recent Disney movie "Turning Red."
Hong also did visual movies such as "Balls of Fury" (2007), "Safe" (2012), and "Everything Everywhere All At Once" (2022).
During the ceremony, Hong's co-actor Jamie Lee-Curtis gave a speech about how proud she is to see Hong receive a lifetime award.
"He’s a passionate performer. He’s a hilarious presence on set. ... But I also think we share a commitment to ambition, to hustle and flow," Jamie said.
Hong has joined Anna May Wong, Mako, Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, and Lucy Liu of Asian descent who have received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. (Carissa Alcantara)
