BUTUAN CITY – The regional Media Action Center (MAC) of Caraga Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) based here described the onset of the actual conduct of election on Monday as generally peaceful and without untoward incident.

The polls started at 6 a.m. which by then there were already long queues of voters waiting for their turn in their respective precincts.

The MAC was created by the regional command of PRO 13 to maximize the event exposure, real time release of accurate information to media during the coverage of the May 9 national and local elections as soon as it is available.

PRO 13 has also organized MAC provincial and city in an objective to render 24/7 assistance during the election period. Each MAC is manned by Philippine National Police personnel ready to assist the media on the situations in their area of responsibility. Spokesperson is also on standby for their queries and will conduct a press briefing if needed during the election period.

“So far, up to this time no untoward incident happened in the different areas in Caraga region,” noted the duty police officer in the regional MAC here.

“We express optimism that all security measures put in place by the PRO 13 will produce favorable results to uphold the sovereign will of the Caraganons electorate and ensure safe, orderly, honest and peaceful elections,” it said.

Meanwhile, absence of names of some voters in precincts are among the problems of electorates in this region’s premier and capital city of Butuan.

Despite the heavy rains in some areas in the region, voters’ turnout was getting bigger by the hours.
