CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga -- The Central Luzon police force has beefed up the security within the region to ensure a safe and secure 2022 National and Local Elections on Monday.
Regional Director Brigadier General Matthew P Baccay of Police Regional Office 3 said that almost 6,000 Philippine National Police personnel coming from the different police units in Central Luzon have been deployed within the region.
“We will also send out police personnel assigned to do desk work and PNP personnel undergoing schooling to the different polling precincts to increase the number of those tasked to ensure peaceful elections on May 9,” said BGen Baccay.
“We also have at least 700 personnel as Reactionary Standby Support Forces who are ready for deployment, if the need arises,” added BGen Baccay.
Meanwhile, the entire Central Luzon Police force has seized more than 2800 firearms in a series of operations in the region since the start last January 9 of the gun ban in accordance with the Commission Election’s policy.
Baccay said the police have arrested 321 erring individuals, and confiscated a total of 1,302 assorted firearms, 1,401 assorted deadly weapons and 88 grenades.
“We still have 32 days before the Election period (January 9- June 8, 2022) ends. May this serve as a stern warning to all especially those who have not yet renewed their licenses or turned-over their undocumented firearms in the nearest police stations for safe keeping as stricter penalties are imposed against violators,” said BGEN Baccay.
