Bulacan leaders hold prayer rally for peaceful elections

SAN JOSE DEL MONTE, Bulacan -- A people's prayer rally was held here for a fair, clean, and honest election in the province of Bulacan and in the rest of the country.

The prayer rally was led by Gov. Daniel R. Fernando Thursday night, April 5, at the Executive Village's covered court in Barangay Sto Cristo here.

With Fernando during the people's prayer rally were his vice gubernatorial running mate Alex Castro, Allan Ray A. Baluyut, and Mario Batuigas, who are vying for councilors, Allen Baluyut who is running as a board member, and five religious leaders.

In his speech before thousands of San Josenos, Fernando urged Bulakenyos not to sell their votes and reminded them that the right to vote is among the sacred rights of the Filipino.

"Itindig ninyo ang sagradong boto n'yo, hingin ang gabay at seguridad ng Poong Maykapal upang malayo kayo sa panganib ng dayaan, at tukso sa mga halagang ibibigay kapalit ang inyong boto," (Your votes are sacred so ask for Divine guidance so your votes will be protected and you will not be tempted to sell them for material gains),' Fernando said.

He said the future of the province and the next generations is in the hands of every Bulakenyo and the next set of officials to be chosen by the electorate.

Fernando said that to achieve honest government, the people should choose wisely.

"The community needs true public servants who will render services to the people particularly to the needy," he added.
