Laguna shows forces for Robredo

STA. ROSA, Laguna—Residents did not disappoint presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo when a huge number of them showed forces during her campaign rally on Friday night, considering she lost here in the 2016 election race.

The 165,000-strong supporters, a number estimated by the local organizers, did not mind enduring the heat in the afternoon and soaking wet at night only if it would boost Robredo’s presidential bid in this province.

What’s with the show of support? Robredo lost here to Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., currently her main rival for the highest seat, when she ran for the vice presidency.

So with the Evoliving Drive completely filled by “Kakampinks,” she said she did not expect to get a massive support from here. In 2016, she said she had a smaller crowd.

This could prove true Pulse Asia’s recent survey result which showed that Robredo started narrowing her gap from Marcos Jr.—even becoming almost statistically tied—in terms of voting preference.

The Sumilao farmers, who travelled 4,400 kilometers within 40 days all the way from Bukidnon, raised Robredo’s hands here as a form of endorsement.

In endorsing her, they said they join Robredo and all the millions of farmers who suffer from hunger in their fight to have better lives.

Laguna 3rd District Rep. Sol Aragones, who is seeking a gubernatorial post against reelectionist Gov. Ramil Hernandez, also endorsed Robredo for the presidency.
