Selina Dagdag-Alas, wife of NLEX player Kevin Alas, revealed Thursday that she has been diagnosed with a rare type of cancer.
The PBA courtside reporter shared the heartbreaking news on social media, detailing how her faith in God strengthens her resolve after finding out the diagnosis.
“I got diagnosed with a rare type of cancer called Gestational Trophoblastic Neoplasia almost a month ago. When I first heard of the news, I fell in Kevin's arms as I repeatedly cried, ‘Help me, God’,” she wrote.
“Cancer was my biggest fear. And to have it in my twenties was a big shock for me. But I praise the Lord that He has already made Himself known to me during this season of my life. Back then, I would’ve thought this was a cruel prognosis.”
But she said: “through His grace alone, and the gift of His word – I know better. Though I may not know the answer to my ‘whys’m I know I am in the hands of a tender Father...”
Dagdag-Alas added: “Some days are pretty tough, but I am blessed by the love of prayers, and encouragement of Kevin, our family, our churchmates, and our friends. Above all, I am blessed with the fellowship of Christ.”
According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD) is “the term given to a group of rare tumors that develop during the early stages of pregnancy.”
Last January, Dagdag-Alas revealed she had miscarried after entering the second month of her pregnancy.
