Mother, son die in Las Piñas City fire


A mother and her son died in a fire that engulfed their home early Thursday morning, April 28 in Aristocrat Village, Talon Tres, Las Piñas City.

The report from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) identified the fatalities as Angelita Supilanas, 44; and Dargie Supilanas, 12.

Three individuals were also injured by the blaze. They were Dolly Omega, 27, and Reginal Algarme, 16, who both sustained first degree burns on their left shoulders; and Niño Bautista, 28, who suffered laceration on the foot.

The BFP raised the fire to the first alarm at 2:44 a.m. It was put under control at 3:37 a.m. and declared fire out at 4:02 a.m.

Arson investigator Senior Fire Officer II (SFO2) Rodel T. Agduyeng said the fire may have originated from the room occupied by Dolly Omega inside the house owned by the Supilanas.

Only Supilanas' house was razed with damage to property estimated at P100,000.

Five families or 16 individuals were affected by the fire.

Probers are still investigating the cause of the fire.
