'Elvis' movie OST to feature Doja Cat, actress-musicians Shonka and Yola


The upcoming Baz Luhrmann-directed "Elvis" biopic will release an accompanying original soundtrack that features Doja Cat, among others.

Said movie’s original soundtrack features the lead single “Vegas” – performed by Doja Cat -- that incorporates elements off Elvis Presley’s early hit “Hound Dog.”

The original movie soundtrack is set for release this coming May 6th and will also feature performances from Gospel music artist Shonka, who also appeared in the film as pioneering woman Blues artist Big Mama Thornton. Ditto, country and soul artist Yola is also included in the OST and film. Yola plays Sister Rosetta Tharpe.

Doja Cat performed “Vegas” live for the first time at Coachella.

“Elvis” which stars Austin Butler as the King of Rock and Roll and Tom Hanks as infamous manager Colonel Tom Parker, is “a big-screen spectacle from visionary filmmaker Baz Luhrman that explores the life and music of Elvis Presley and his complicated relationship with his manager Col. Tom Parker.”

The soundtrack will cover Elvis Presley’s lengthy body of work that started in the 1950’s, the 60’s and until his death in the 70’s.

“Elvis The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” will be released by storied American label RCA Records.

The movie is set to hit theatres on June 24th.
