Presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte highlighted the UniTeam’s flagship unity platform and goal of colorless politics during a UniTeam rally on Sunday, April 24.
"Una ay pagkakaisa, kapag kami ang inyong mga pinili na leaders sa May 9, dadalhin namin kayo sa iisang direksyon ng tuloy-tuloy na kaunlaran ng wala pong kulay ng pulitika. (First is unity, if we are elected your leaders on May 9, we will take you in one direction of continuous progress without colorful politics),” Duterte told voters at the UniTeam Taguig grand rally on Sunday, April 24.
“Hindi po kami green, hindi kami red, hindi kami blue, orange, lalong lalo na hindi kami pink at yellow. Isa lang po tayong lahat, isa lang ang kulay ng mga Pilipino (we aren’t green, we aren’t red, we aren’t blue, orange, we are most definitely not pink or yellow. We, Filipinos, are one, we are only one color),” the Davao City Mayor continued, making a jab at UniTeam rivals Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Francis Panglinan who don the color pink.
Marcos added that his alliance with the president's daughter was a replicable example of the unity platform preached by the UniTeam candidates.
“Ito po ay simbolo ng aming isinisigaw na pagkakaisa dahil po kung iisipin po natin na ang isang kagaya ko na nanggaling sa Norte at ang isang kagaya ni Inday Sara na nanggaling sa Davao sa Mindanao, na nanggaling sa magkabilang dako ng Pilipinas ay maaring magsama, siguro naman kaya nating ipagkaisa ang sambayanang Pilipino," Marcos told the cheering crowd of UniTeam supporters (This is a symbol of what the unity we have been calling for. If you think about it, someone like me from the North and someone like Inday Sara from Davao in Mindanao on the other side of the country can come together, surely we can do this with the whole country,” Marcos said in his speech.
There are 449,359 registered voters in Taguig City according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Just 14 days or two weeks remain before the 2022 national elections.
