Robredo's plan for Cebu 'aligned' with Cebuanos' development agenda

MANDAUE CITY, Cebu—Endorsed not by politicians but by the people, presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo said her plans for this province will also align with what the Cebuanos want.

"Kanina may pinakita po sa akin na Cebu Development Agenda, na itong Cebu Development Agenda ang mga sumulat iba't ibang sectoral organizations dito sa Cebu (I was presented earlier the Cebu Development Agenda, which was written by various sectoral groups here in Cebu)," Robredo said during her grand rally at the Mandaue Reclamation Area Thursday night.

"Noong binasa ko po siya, naka-align siya sa mga plano namin. At ang pinakamahalaga sa lahat, ang plano nanggaling mismo sa taumbayan (When I read it, it was aligned with our plans. And what's important of all, it came from the people themselves)," she added.

Robredo said that is the type of government that she wants to lead: "a government that listens to the people."

In her second campaign visit here, Robredo still did not get the traditional hand-raising endorsement from local politicians, although she was endorsed by Vice Gov. Hilario Davide III.

The incumbent governor, Gwen Garcia, supports the candidacy of Robredo’s main rival, Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

Robredo did not secure the ruling political party’s support. But for her, it is only the “One Cebu” of the politicians. She has the "One Cebu" of the Cebuanos.

"Sa mahabang panahon, nakikita natin at napapagod tayo sa luma at bulok na klase ng politika (For the longest time, we see and we're tired of old and rotten type of politics)," Robredo said.

The vice president, who won here in the 2016 elections, is “optimistic” she will repeat her winning lead.

"'Yung volunteerism na nakikita ko sa Cebu ngayon, wala ito noong 2016 (The volunteerism that I see in Cebu now was not yet here in 2016)," she said. "Unprecedented 'yung passion na pinapakita ng mga volunteers and nakakagulat kasi even in places as far away as Bantayan, very active 'yung mga volunteers groups (The passion that the volunteers is unprecedented and it's surprising that even in places as far as Bantayan, volunteer groups are very active)."
