The national women’s football team rolled to a 16-0 win over Tonga in a friendly match held Friday, April 22 at the Western Sydney Wanderers Football Park in Sydney, Australia.
Carleigh Frilles produced five goals as the Filipinas claimed their third win in as many friendlies since the start of the Sydney camp which was set up as part of preparations for next month’s Vietnam Southeast Asian Games.
Hali Long and Camille Rodriguez each scored thrice, Anicka Castaneda came up with a brace while Sofia Harrison and Tahnai Annis had one each for coach Alen Stajcic’s side.
Frilles, Long, Rodriguez, Castaneda, Harrison and Annis were joined in the starting lineup by Inna Palacios, Malea Cesar, Ryley Bugay, Kaya Hawkinson and Chantelle Maniti as they played their first match since a pair of wins over Fiji less than two weeks ago.
The lady booters scored eight in the first half with Frilles finding the net thrice and Long with two.
Frilles added two in the final 45 minutes when the result was all but window dressing.
