Robredo on alleged 'chaos' comment: 'I never said that'

BOGO CITY, Cebu—Presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo has made it clear that she never said about possible chaos should her rival, Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., win in the upcoming elections.

"Siguro ibabalik ko yung question sa media, narinig nyo na ba ako any point na sinabi ko ‘yun? Kasi ako, never ko ‘yung sinabi (I will return the question to the media. Have you heard me any point saying that? Because I never said that)," Robredo told reporters in an ambush interview Thursday after her campaign rally in this city, the second of four-leg Cebu campaign.

The vice president made the clarification after she was accused of warning the public that there would be chaos if Marcos becomes president, which triggered presidential bet Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso to attack her.

"Yun ang nakakatakot it shows the character... Ako nakikita ko ha, alam mo gagawin nila ihahanda na damdamin ninyo magagawa sila ng malalaking rally, rally, rally ito na yung rally na para bang sinasabi sa inyo pag hindi nyo kami binoto magkakagulo (That’s what’s scary. It shows the character... From what I’m seeing, they’re preparing the emotion of the people. They will hold big rallies to prove that there will be chaos if we are not voted)," Domagoso said during the Easter joint press conference.

Robredo said she would not want to engage in a word war with Domagoso anymore as the campaign period is not about the fight among the presidential candidates.

Campaign season, she said, is a fight for the country.

"Yung focus ko hindi madidistract ng mga nangyayari, yung focus ko nasa ano ba ‘yung goal natin (My focus will not be distracted by what’s happening. My focus is our goal)," she said.
