The Philippine Arena and Mall of Asia Arena are being eyed as possible venues in the event the Governors’ Cup Finals between Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and Meralco reaches a deciding seventh game.

PBA commissioner Willie Marcial bared the availability of both arenas for the potential decider on Sunday, April 24 after Game 6 was postponed due to a fire that broke out inside the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The incident that took place during the Grand Finals of the PBA 3x3 second conference forced the league to reschedule Game 6 for Friday at MOA.

Marcial also said that the Big Dome, despite the incident, is still in the picture but added that the league will give first priority to the Iglesia Ni Cristo-built arena in Bocaue, Bulacan and the SM-owned showplace in Pasay City.

“Pwede MOA, pwede Philippine Arena at ito (Araneta),” Marcial told reporters outside of the Big Dome after announcing the Game 6 postponement.

“Sinasabi pa nila, kakausapin pa nila ang management nila kasi alam ko may nakabook. So yun ang mga pinag-aaralan natin.”

The Philippine Arena was initially eyed as host of a potential Game 7, but the league ended up booking MOA for the original date.

But MOA will end up hosting the finals anew after Game 2 and Game 3 were played prior to the Holy Week break.
